The metabolic house
William Stumpf
Wishing to offer an alternative to the consumerist concept of American baby boomer kitchen, William Stumpf, a designer best known for his research into the ergonomics of office chairs, launched, in 1989, the "Metabolic House" concept based on energy efficiency and the local looping of water and bio-waste. The kitchen becomes the hub of a system for sorting and recycling incoming flows.William Stumpf even integrates a sparkling water machine to reduce plastic packaging.
